MEET TYLER

Tyler comes from a typical, working-class Manitowoc family. His great grandparents lived in Custerdale, a housing development created by the US Department of the Navy, so his great grandfather could work in the shipyards. His grandfathers served in the US Army. While he was growing up, Tyler’s dad worked in manufacturing while his mom ran an in-home daycare to make ends meet. Once his sister and he were older, his parents took a risk and opened their own small business. Tyler’s story is Manitowoc County’s story. He carries the lessons and values of those who came before him: the importance of family, hard-work, determination, and giving back to the community that gave so much to him.

Tyler attended public schools in Manitowoc, graduating from Lincoln High School in 2010. He then attended the University of Wisconsin-Manitowoc before transferring to Marquette University where he earned a degree in political science. Though he originally intended to go to law school, he quickly realized after graduation that was not the path for him. Instead, he continued working full-time while attending UW-Green Bay to earn his teaching certification. Since then, Tyler has been teaching middle and high school history, government, psychology, and even introductory Spanish.
Even though much of his day is spent reflecting on the past, Tyler is always focused on the future of his community. In 2020, he wanted to make a difference so he ran for the Manitowoc County Board. In 2022, in only his second term, Tyler was elected Chairman of the County Board by his fellow supervisors, making him the youngest County Board Chairman in Wisconsin and perhaps in all of Wisconsin history. In 2024, Tyler was re-elected unanimously.
When Tyler is not teaching or serving on the County Board, he enjoys bowling on Tuesday night league, listening to books, playing cards and board games, spending time up North, and doing home projects. Above all, Tyler loves spending time with his family. His husband, Sean, works for Child Protective Services. They share three children: Everett, 16, Jay, 9, and Meryl, 5. Everett is a sophomore who plays football and baseball, Jay is in 4th grade and enjoys science and reading, and Meryl is a 4K artist who loves princesses and animals.
